29 Jul Successful tactics for Hans-Dieter Dreher in the qualification for the BEMER Riders Tour
(Donaueschingen-Immenhöfe) Nothing beats a great victory in front of a home crowd. Today, Hans-Dieter Dreher from Baden-Württemberg enjoyed this success in the Prize of the City of Donaueschingen, which was also the qualifier for the fourth rating competition of the BEMER Riders Tour. And it was a victory to be proud of: Dreher and the Holsteiner grey Cous Cous took almost five seconds off the second-placed Tamara Schnyder from Switzerland in the saddle of California Dream TS. American Adam Prudent rode Labalou to third place.
Saturday’s main event at the “Festival of Horses” at RZ Frese attracted numerous show jumping fans. Course director Phil Schmauder had set the competitors a tricky task, of the 46 pairs competing in the qualifier, six made it into the jump-off. Sönke Aldinger, the 27-year-old young professional from the Black Forest, opened the second round with Cappuccino Z and risked everything. Unfortunately, the pair had to accept two faults. The Eppelheim show jumper Günter Treiber on the Holsteiner Cassis S also showed a fast round. However, four faults meant fourth place. Wolfgang Puschak from Augsburg with the DSP mare Zirona Blue picked up fifth place. Tamara Schnyder (SUI) played it safe with the Dutch bred California Dream TS (by Carambole). The caution paid off, the Swiss rider contributed to a very successful Immenhöfe weekend for Switzerland with her second place. Adam Prudent (USA), who lives in France, also jumped onto the podium riding Labalou (by Luchador).
Clever Cous Cous
The last rider to enter the jump-off was master rider Hans-Dieter Dreher, who recorded a home victory for Baden-Württemberg in the Donaueschingen Championships. Last year he had to be content with third place in the qualification for the BEMER Riders Tour rating competition, but this year it was enough for a sovereign victory. “My horse really jumped brilliantly today. It wasn’t such a fast jump-off, I saw my opponents’ times and was able to play a bit of tactics. It worked out, I am really satisfied,” the rider from South Baden said happily.
“Cous Cous has already done many good things. He is very big-framed, clever and careful, but I have to make sure that he stays calm. I will try again tomorrow and if it works out, then I would be very happy,” revealed Dreher, who has also been very successful at World Cup level with the Cachas-Lasino son. The decision as to who will be able to take away how many points from Donaueschingen-Immenhöfe will be made on Sunday in the Grand Prix, an international jumping competition with two rounds starting at 2.30 pm (live on Clipmyhorse.tv).
