11 May BEMER Young Riders Tour: Czech champion lays down first exclamation mark in Śamorín
(Šamorín) Right from the Opening class over 1.35m on Thursday morning at the Danube Champions Tour Event in Šamorín, Tereza Svobodova (CZE) made it clear which way she is heading for the next few days: With an excellent ride on the 13-year-old Czech-bred mare Britania, Svobodova already laid claim to the top places this weekend. Second place this morning went to Petra Parenicova, also competing for the Czech Republic, with the 14-year-old KWPN gelding Evergreen P. Oliver Fletcher (GBR) also placed well with Casachessa PS, bred by Gestüt Lewitz, in third place. The best and only German rider was Magdalena Wanninger (Straubing) on Commander, who unfortunately collected eight penalty points in the first part of the two-phase jumping competition.
20-year-old Tereza Svobodova is no unknown quantity in the talent pool of the U21 riders. In March 2023, she was already able to recommend herself for the “Educational Programme” of the prestigious Young Riders Academy. In April, she completed the podium in the Young Riders Grand Prix at her home event in Zduchovice. Her team mate Petra Parenicova claimed victory in the Junior Grand Prix at Lamprechtshausen last year, among others. The top 10 riders who placed today already suggest it: the BEMER Young Riders Tour will feature many new names in the classification at its debut at the spectacular facility ‘X-bionic Sphere’ in Slovakia. The Czech Republic, Poland and Hungary have sent a number of combinations to Šamorín, but also Denmark and Austria. Marie Christine Sebesta (AUT) finished fifth in the BEMER Young Riders Tour rating competition last Sunday. This currently puts her in 12th place in the current Tour Ranking with 11 points. In Lamprechtshausen she sat in the saddle of Gaffney, for Šamorín she brought along the ten-year-old gelding Coke Life, which she has only been riding for a short time.
British rider Jessica Hewlett, who is currently leading the ranking of the BEMER Young Riders Tour, and her top horse Ilmar HBC are enjoying a well-deserved break this weekend. So it will be exciting to see who can secure the maximum number of 20 points to win the BEMER Young Riders Grand Prix next Sunday, 14 May. Šamorín is also called the Slovakian jewel of equestrian sport and is located only a few kilometres from Bratislava and Vienna. The X-bionic Sphere facility has three grass arenas, three sand arenas, two huge indoor riding arenas and 700 permanent stables, which offer the best facilities for horses and riders.
