04 Jun BEMER Young Riders Tour: Victory goes to France – Jessica Hewlett extends lead in the ranking of the BEMER Young Riders Tour in Zuidwolde
(Zuidwolde) It was a very demanding course over 1.45m that the 18 to 21-year-old young riders had to complete in the Grand Prix of the BEMER Young Riders Tour in Zuidwolde, the Netherlands: Only three pairs out of 54 starters managed the feat of completing the difficult Grand Prix course without any faults. The Czech rider Adam Pisarik was the first to achieve this with his experienced twelve-year-old Danilo (by Fetcher N), who has already been successfully ridden by Karl Schneider and Ebba Johansson. The Italian rider, Aurora Guaragno, was also clear with her veteran, the Oldenburg, Contento (by Contendros 2), who has also gained a lot of experience with Emanuele Gaudiano in the saddle. Third in the jump-off was the French Lucie Martinot with Brisbane des Salines, who is already placed over 1.50m with Cyril Bouvard and Guillaume Batillat.
In the jump-off for the victory and valuable ranking points, the Frenchwoman had the best cards in the end. Adam Pisarik collected eight penalty points in the jump-off, Aurora Guaragno had a pole fall out of the supports. The final rider, Martinot, therefore ‘only’ had to clear the course to win. The Amazon took no risk, remained without a drop but with two time faults in the jump-off on the account. That was the victory for the beaming Frenchwoman.
Fourth place with one rail in the round went to Skye Morssinkhof with G-Vingino-Blue (by VDL Zirocco Blue) ahead of the leader in the BEMER Young Riders Tour Ranking, Britain’s Jessica Hewlett with Ilmar Hbc. The winner from Lamprechtshausen also had an annoying pole in the round in Zuidwolde, but with fifth place on Sunday she was able to extend her lead with now 46 points on her credit account.
Building bridges for young riders: That is the approach of the BEMER Young Riders Tour, where consistency in the international show jumping series for the U21 generation is what counts. Good performances over several tournaments, motivation and talent – that is what ultimately leads to the title of “Young Rider of the Year”. Today, Jessica Hewlett came a little bit closer to this goal again.
Zuidwolde was already the fifth stop of the current season of the BEMER Young Riders Tour. Title partner BEMER Int. AG and the makers of the Riders Tour GmbH, Paul Schockemöhle and Ullrich Kasselmann want to give young talents new opportunities to test themselves in “senior sport” and prove their abilities. Promoting young talent has always been an idea of the Riders Tour, but is now taking on concrete features with the BEMER Young Riders Tour.
The aim of the BEMER Young Rider Grand Prix is to give good European riders in the U21 age group extended opportunities to compete on the established BEMER Riders Tour platform in the future. Starting next year, the best candidates of the current season – broken down according to their results this season – will receive starting places in international shows.
