06 Jul CSI Ommen goes BEMER Riders Tour
(Ommen/ NED) It is a premiere: for the first time the international BEMER Riders Tour is coming to the CSI Ommen. With riders from 16 nations, the series is gearing up for an exciting third leg in the Netherlands. Both the initiators Paul Schockemöhle, Francois and Ullrich Kasselmann and the title sponsor BEMER Int. AG are looking forward to the new venue. The defending champion is also taking part: Patrick Stühlmeyer from Germany was able to win the 2021 tour and is highly motivated for a repeat.
Defending champions meets ranking leader
In Ommen, the defending champion will also meet the current ranking leader. While Stühlmeyer is already “Rider of the Year” David Will from Dagobertshausen can still become one. The European team silver medallist is looking forward to the CSI3* in Ommen. Will won the second tour leg in Munich and together with Janne Friederike Meyer-Zimmermann (Pinneberg) is ranked first on 20 points. Now he is “on course” for stage number three. “I have been to Ommen before, it must have been seven years or so ago,” Will remembers, “but it was a great show back then. I’m also good friends with the organisers, Hendrik-Jan and Frank Schuttert.” For the Grand Prix, which will be the rating competition of the BEMER Riders Tour on Sunday, David Will is planning to ride Concordia, daughter of his former top horse Colorit.
Plenty of competition
Renowned riders such as the newly crowned Hickstead Derby winner Shane Breen (Ireland), hosts Frank and Hendrik-Jan Schuttert, Mathijs van Asten as well as Lucas and Will Porter from the USA, who train with Jeroen Dubbeldam, are on the competitor list.
When? Where? How to watch?
The prestigious series, which was launched in 2001, will be contested twice in the Netherlands: Firstly, in the qualifier, an international jumping competition with jump-off — the highlight of the big tour on Friday. The best 50 pairs of this qualifier will then compete in reverse order in the BEMER Riders Tour rating competition on Sunday, the Grand Prix van het Vechtdal powered by Handelshuis Schuttert & Provincie Overijssel with two rounds.
The third leg of the BEMER Riders Tour at the CSI3* Ommen in the Netherlands can be seen live at clipmyhorse.tv. Starter and result lists will be available at www.jumpingdedriehoek.nl.
