06 Jun Oranje-victory in the BEMER Young Riders Tour in Zuidwolde
(Zuidwolde) A just 20-year-old Dutch rider won the Grand Prix of the BEMER Young Riders Tour in Zuidwolde / Netherlands: Skye Morssinkhof and her eleven-year-old Zirocco Blue daughter G-Vingino-Blue crossed the finish line in a clear 39.64 seconds – clearly faster than the second-placed U21 European Champion Matthias Westendarp (Wallenhorst) with the Chacco Blue offspring Chillert Blue (0/41.10). Surprisingly, the sixth competition of the international series for young riders had little influence on the current ranking of the BEMER Young Riders Tour.
Skye Morssinkhof, who is from a real equestrian family, was overjoyed with her victory. The young rider has owned G-Vingino-Blue since the mare was six years old and the pair has contested many important events together, such as her time as a junior rider, first Nations Cup and also European Championships. The amazone was quick to thank “the team for the great support they have given me”. Behind Matthis Westendarp, British rider Red Morgan took third place with Golia. Sönke Fallenberg (GER) and Emilia Löser (GER) were also among the top six of the BEMER Young Riders Tour Grand Prix. Fifth place went to the Norwegian Jenny Krogsaeter with Chivas Ap Z.
Bad luck for Beckmann, Coppo, Guerrieri
While Skye, who already excelled in 2021 in Aachen with her mare, collected her first 20 Tour points, Johanna Beckmann (GER) and Chiara Coppo (ITA) – both ranked third in the ranking – were unable to make the most of their chances. Coppo didn’t compete in the Grand Prix of the BEMER Young Riders Tour, Beckmann didn’t have the best day and was not able to score any points. And also the sixth in the ranking, Martina Guerrieri (ITA) missed the chance for further points in the BEMER Young Riders Tour in Zuidwolde.
Top of the Ranking unchallenged
New names joined the ranking after the sixth stop of the BEMER Young Riders Tour. A total of nine out of 48 riders made it into the jump-off of the difficult competition.
Antonio Sottile (ITA) and Antoine Ermann (FRA) remain at the top of the ranking in first and second place. Skye Morssinkhof, Johanna Beckmann (GER), Lorenzo Correddu and Chiara Coppo (ITA) now share third place with 20 points each. Only Johann Greve (GER), who finished 14th with Caressina, improved from 24th to 19th position with now 13 points.
Goal in sight
The international youth tournament “Future Champions” in Hagen a.T.W. in Germany is the seventh stop of the BEMER Young Riders Tour from 14 – 19 June. This will be followed by the final eighth stop in Kronenberg, the Netherlands, from 22 – 25 September.
