05 May BEMER Young Riders Tour: Top class riders meet again in Lamprechtshausen
(Lamprechtshausen) The BEMER Young Riders Tour for the U21 age group is making its return to Lamprechtshausen, Austria, for the second time after its premiere year in 2022. The traditional young riders’ CSIO on the grounds of the Göllner family even boasts a new record number of participants, with 390 riders and 400 horses from 13 nations competing. The event is also regarded as the first barrier to qualification for the European Championships in the summer and has therefore attracted some well-known faces from the youth circuit.
The young riders kicked off their programme on Thursday evening in the qualifier for the Young Rider Grand Prix, a Table A jumping competition over 1.40m. Here, the 20-year-old British rider Ava Vernon won on her long-time partner Jolie Fleur van de Noordheuvel by Cassini II, with whom she already won the
individual Gold medal as well as team bronze at the European Junior Championships two years ago. The young rider from Lincolnshire showed that she is a force to be reckoned with this weekend, placing her Nations Cup horse Volnay de Choc Z in fourth place. The 19-year-old German show jumper Luis Jöbst from Obertraubing rode Chaccobet to second place ahead of Sophia Kelly (GBR) and Horinde H. Fourth place went to Switzerland’s Joana Schildknecht with the Vigo D Arsouilles STX son, Victor NN. Schildknecht secured 13 points for the current Young Riders Tour Ranking with an excellent fourth place at the first stop of the BEMER Young Riders Tour in Gorla Minore and currently sits in seventh place. The rider from St.Gallen won her first Swiss Championship title last year and is considered one of the most talented young riders in the country. In the overall ranking of the BEMER Young Riders Tour season 2022, she ended up in 13th place after three starts.
The best countryman in the red and white colours was David Moser in sixth place. He also showed a clear round with his 12-year-old Oldenburg mare Chicca Blue. Things also went really well for the 20-year-old Upper Austrian in the BEMER Young Riders Tour rating competition of Gorla Minore and he will be hoping to add more points to his 11 ranking points next Sunday in the BEMER Young Riders Grand Prix. Britain’s Jessica Hewlett, who completed the podium at the second stop in Compiégne, also has the opportunity to add to her points tally this weekend. So it remains exciting!
